Surprisingly, having had some wind through our hair on the boat yesterday, the theme continues, today, when in contemplating how to make the most of our stay here andsee as much as we can in our remaining two days, we decided to look for a value for money open topped bus tour. Armed with a $10 bill, a chain saw, and a tin opener we created a panoramic platform that was the envy of thousands and toured the city. (truth be known we pretended we had money off vouchers and got a good discount on one of the many buses plying from Union Square.)
In anticipation of the money we intended to save my wife has saved me another fortune by buying beauty products here rather than at home.
The bus ride was the right call. I was able to put my trendy sun hat to good use by tieing it under my chin, and it did not blow off once, something that was not a feature of much other less flamboyantly styled millinery.
So we have seen and can recognise many civic buildings, are aware there was a major earthquake here in 1906, and that much subtle rebuilding went on to help prevent further seismic damage.
The art gallery seems a snip at $3million, though it might have bought a bit more in 1915 when itwas built than it would now. We did the Presidio, Golden Gate park, and ultimately drove North and south over the golden Gate itself. Great views, and a wonderful location for a 'Fixadent' advert. Anyone trying to speak up there was in grave danger of turning inside out.
